Lawyers go back to school

Lawyers from Bevan Brittan go back to school as part of Leeds Legal Education Week

A team of seven lawyers from the Leeds office of law firm Bevan Brittan swapped their desks for the classroom as they spent the day at Middleton St Mary’s primary school in Middleton, Leeds – as part of Leeds Legal Education Week which ran from 23-27 November 2015.

The week saw staff from law firms all across Leeds support primary school pupils by helping to raise their awareness of the World of Work, broaden their horizons about the choices and opportunities open to them, and help them view work and employment as a positive option.

Organised by the Leeds Law Society, in conjunction with Leeds-based social enterprise the Ahead Partnership, the aim of Leeds Legal Education Week is to connect students in inner city primary schools with the legal profession.

Bevan Brittan’s Leeds office opened at the beginning of September, in Toronto Square in the centre of the city, alongside its existing offices in Birmingham, Bristol and London.

Lyndon Campbell, senior associate at Bevan Brittan who took part in the visit, said:

“It was great fun and really rewarding to spend the day with the children of Middleton St Mary’s. We explained what lawyers do and tried to inspire them to want to become one! Leeds Legal Education Week is a great initiative and we were delighted to take part. With our new office, we’re keen to get involved in local business and community initiatives.”
