Area Committee to discuss community hub at St George’s Centre

Plans to pilot new arrangements at St George’s Centre in Middleton are on the agenda for the Inner South Area Committee meeting on Wednesday (19 March 2014).

Leeds-City-Council-LogoSt Georges Centre already features a one stop centre for Council services, a library, a jobclub, credit union counter as well as the minor injuries and other health services. Leeds City Council are looking to improve services at their one stop centre and St Georges Will pilot the new arrangements.

Other matters under discussion include:

  • Public health update
  • Environmental Action service level agreement
  • Community safety
  • Children’s services
  • Parks & Countryside annual report
  • Neighbourhood Improvement Officers’ report

Every Area Committee meeting also features an Open Forum. This is an opportunity for any member of the public to ask a question or make a comment to Councillors.

The Inner South Area Committee is made up of the nine Councillors from our three wards: Beeston & Holbeck, City & Hunslet and Middleton Park.

The meeting takes place on Wednesday 19 March 2014 starting at 6pm at BITMO’s GATE centre, Aberfield Gate, Belle Isle Road, LS10 3QH.

You can download the full agenda and papers for the meeting from the Council’s website here.

  1. Whilst I agree with fully utilizing the Centre. Attention needs to be paid to the parking there. A lot of the parking is taken up by staff who work there or people who go there for meetings. Cars park on corners of roads, plus quite often double bank., making it quite dangerous. Quite often if you get there for an appointment say after 10.30 ish it is impossible to park.
More people working there will cause many more problems re parking. Perhaps this should be thought about first. Perhaps have a separate staff car park would be possible leaving the one that is there for people who are visiting the centre.
