Beeston Festival wants your old bikes!

Beeston Festival is appealing for people to donate their unwanted bikes to a project that will see them revamped and sold on cheaply.

bicycle wheelsWith the Tour de France setting off from Leeds just three weeks later, Beeston Festival has a cycling theme this year. The festival takes place on Saturday 14 June 2014 in Cross Flatts Park. Plans are in hand for a large bike try out zone, disability bikes, bike artworks and lots more.

Mark Day from the festival committee said:

“We hope people will get the bike bug on the day, but we also want to encourage people to keep cycling. We are working with the Leeds Cycling Campaign to hold regular South Leeds bike rides and bike maintenance sessions.

“We need a supply of bikes to practice on and to sell cheaply to families that otherwise couldn’t afford a bike. If you’ve got an old bike in your shed that you don’t use, please consider giving it to us.”

To donate a bike please contact Mark by emailing beestonfestival@gmail.com.
