Beeston pub shows poetic licence

The Broadway pub on Dewsbury Road are this Friday (19th August) hosting what they hope will be the first of many evenings of live entertainment – including performance poetry, music, and comedy.

“Gritty, witty” live poetry in Beeston this Friday

This inaugural event in particular promises some of Yorkshire’s finest up-and-coming poets, including Toria Garbutt, Matt Abbott, Gav Roberts, and Kirsty Taylor.

Broadway landlord Craig Webster, who’s organising the event, says: “It’s going to be witty, gritty, fresh, thought-provoking, and straight from the streets. These dynamic and vibrant wordsmiths will challenge your perceptions of what poetry is and can be!”

Craig and co aim to host a growing number of these live performance events, ultimately on a monthly basis. They’re refurbishing the pub accordingly, fitting a stage, lighting, sound desk, and more. Get down if you can this Friday, and watch this space for more.
