Community Committee meets on Wednesday

The Inner South Community Committee will be holding a business meeting on Wednesday 7 November at 5pm at Leeds Civic Hall.

Community CommitteeThe committee is made up of the nine Councillors representing our three wards of Beeston & Holbeck, City & Hunslet and Middleton Park. It has devolved powers to run local services such as street cleansing, youth services and community centres. It also manages a well being budget which gives large and small grants to community organisations.

There will not be a workshop session at this meeting, but it is held in public and there is an Open Forum at the start of the meeting. In the Open forum anyone can ask a question, or raise an issue of concern with the Councillors.

Wednesday’s meeting will hear reports on progress on issues including employment, health and environment. It will also receive reports on grants spending – including a small grant paid to South Leeds Life to produce our October newspaper – and make decisions on grant applications on:

  • Inner South Older Persons Day
  • Rags to Riches
  • Back Lake Street – railings
  • Money Buddies
  • After school vocational training at The Hunslet Club
  • Refurbishment of Middleton Community Centre
