Election hustings meeting in Beeston

Residents in Beeston will have an opportunity to put their questions to the candidates standing in Leeds Central at the general election.

St Mary’s Parish Centre in Beeston is to host an election hustings on Sunday 28 May 2017 at 7:30pm. The meeting will be chaired by Rev Lindsey Pearson, the Vicar of Beeston, who said:

“I would urge everyone to come along on Sunday. This is a chance to hear all the candidates before you cast your vote in what is a very important election for this country.”

Doors open at 7pm and the bar will be open. Beeston Parish Centre is next to St Mary’s Church on Town Street, opposite the Co-op.

The closing date for registering to vote in the general election is Midnight TONIGHT (Monday 22 May). If you are already registered to vote you do not need to re-register. If you do need to register you must now do this online here: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

You will need your National Insurance number and the process only takes a few minutes. You may register to vote if you are:

  • a British citizen
  • an EU citizen resident in the UK
  • a qualifying Commonwealth citizen resident in the UK

The general election is on Thursday 8 June when polling stations will be open from 7:30am to 10pm.
