From Beeston to Bangkok

5 young people from Beeston and Holbeck are going to Bangkok in April to volunteer in an orphanage and also run a 2 day camp for 80 of the most marginalised children from a slum area in the city.

The trip is organised jointly by leaders from the SPACE project and KIDZ KLUB, and it’s a hugely significant trip for the young people, and also for the leaders travelling and working with them. For 3 of the young people it is the first time they will have travelled outside the UK, and for all of them it will be a life changing experience.

To help them on their way, there’s a Community Fun Day and Thai Meal being organised on March 10th.

The Fun Day is at St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, 1-4pm. There will be a host of activities for all ages including candy floss, bric-a-brac, cakes and tombolas and INDOOR BOUNCY CASTLE. – Everybody welcome!!

The Thai Meal is an authentic three-course meal with quizzes and a silent auction. It’s at The Church of the Nazarene on Hunslet Hall Road, 7pm. Tickets are a bargain £10 per person for a truly amazing evening of food and fun and an opportunity to get your hands on fantastic prizes such as family tickets to the theatre, cinema vouchers, handbags and gift sets and much much more. Places are limited at the meal, and must be booked before 7th March by emailing Mark at mahodgkinson85@hotmail.com or texting or calling 07791301672.
