Hunslet to ditch ‘Hawks’ tag?

Supporters asked to vote on potential rebrand

Hunslet Hawks are to ask their supporters to vote on a proposal for a potential re-brand of the club.

The proposal is to to rename the club Hunslet RLFC.

Martin Flynn, Hunslet Hawks General Manager, commented:

“Having spoken to a number of stakeholders there is a growing interest in dropping the name “Hawks”, renaming the club as ‘Hunslet RLFC’ and re-establishing the clubs core values of: Hard work, Loyalty, Honesty, Trust and Respect.

“I would like to gauge your opinion, as loyal supporters of the club, before deciding on the name as we prepare to continue to develop our great club for 2017 and beyond.

“If the outcome of the initial vote is in favour of a rebrand, then further supporter consultation will take place in terms of the design of the club crest and playing kits for 2017.”

Voting forms will be available on Friday night for supporters attending the League 1 Super 8s game against Doncaster, kick off 7:30pm, at South Leeds Stadium.

The vote will close at 5pm on Friday 12 August.
