Looking for activities this February half term?

Here’s our roundup of events to keep your children entertained this half term. If we’ve missed any events, please add them in the comments section below.

 

Pancake Craft Cafe

St Luke’s Church, Beeston Hill is hosting a craft cafe with added pancakes! The hall will be set up with toys for those aged 0-5 and then in the foyer lots of craft based activities to keep older children busy (Recommended up to age 11).

Tuesday 13 February 9:30-11:30am. This is open to all families of faith or not.

 

Junior Golf Camps

Get along to South Leeds Golf Club (Gipsy Lane, Beeston) for tuition, skills challenges, fun games and competitions. Sessions run on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 February. 12-2pm  for children aged 7-9 years; 2:15-4:15pm for ages 10-14. £5 per session.

 

Early Man modelling

White Rose Shopping Centre are offering young film fans the chance to take part in special model-making experiences and activities in celebration of new hit film Early Man.

Participants will learn top tips and tricks from the Early Man creators Aardman Animations, who also brought us Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run  – and will get to create their very own ‘Hognob’ character from the Early Man movie, which they can take home.

The free workshops will be running throughout the half term (Monday-Friday 12-16 February, 10am-5pm in the central atrium) and alongside model-making, there will be face painting and a selfie photo board so that participants can get a photo with their new creations.

Hunslet Club Activity Camp

The Hunslet Club’s Activity Camp runs Monday to Friday 12-16 February from 8:45am-3pm. Activities will include Football, gymnastics, dance, movies, hair and beauty, games room, arts, crafts and baking. £8 per day if booked in advance.

 

Free family film night

There will be a free showing of Beauty & The Beast at The Holbeck (formerly the working men’s club), Jenkinson Lawn. Tuesday 13 February at 6pm. All welcome. Organised by the Inner South Community Committee.

 

Bushcraft days at Skelton Grange

Come and set up camp and spend your day in the woods. Past Bushcraft events have included: shelter building, fire lighting, campfire cooking, field games, hammock making, wild food walks, wood work crafts, string making, bows and arrows, stalking and tracking, pyro-carving, and charcoal making.

The cost per child for the day is £30 (including VAT) and includes a day of outdoor environmental and bushcraft activities led by experienced leaders. Sessions will run from 10am – 4pm on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 February. Skelton Grange Environment Centre, Stourton.

 

Free play sessions in Middleton Park

Crafts using elder. Join Tina, from Forest School Plus, creating Jewellery and hearts from woodland elder. Tuesday 13 February, 1-3pm.

Winter weaving. Children’s play event with Amy of Wild Apple Play. Weave things on a mini-loom with finds from the woods. Wednesday 14 February, 1-3pm.

Leeds Library Fest events

On Monday 12 February, Beeston Library is hosting a Family Quiz Night from 5.30-6.30pm with questions for children and adults, bonus rounds and prizes! Free event, booking required – www.ticketsource.co.uk/leedslibraryevents

Find out what happens when Goldilocks keeps stumbling into the wrong fairytale when The Storytellers visit Dewsbury Road Community Hub on Tuesday 13 February 11am-12pm; Beeston Library on Thursday 15 February, 11am-12pm; and Hunslet Library on Friday 16 February 11am-12pm.
