The children wrote letters to a number of businesses asking for help with seeds, tools and compost.

“I wrote to Morrisons” explains Lilly “and the store manager invited us to come and choose what we needed. They are the only company to reply.” “So far” added Harry.

Each class has their own patch and are deciding what fruit and vegetables to grow. One class is growing its own pizza, planting tomatoes, basil and peppers. Another class is taking a Sunday roast theme with potatoes, carrots and beans.

Once the crops have grown the children will harvest and cook them.

Store Manager Vicky Dempsey said: “This is a fantastic project and we are pleased to be able help out a local  school.”
