New food bank seeks volunteers

Next Saturday, 1st June, the Trussell Trust is providing training for anyone who wants to volunteer at the Leeds South Food Bank.  It takes place at Middleton Methodist Church, Hopewell View, LS10 3TE and runs from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Attendees should bring a packed lunch with them.

There are many roles for which volunteers are needed:

  • Sorting the food
  • Collecting it at special supermarket collection events
  • Transporting the food
  • Welcoming those who use the food banks, chatting with them and signposting them to further help
  • Providing tea and buns
  • Keeping stock records and doing stock-takes
  • Fundraising
  • Praying
  • Cleaning
  • Keeping up financial records and database, website and other IT roles.

Whatever people can offer the Food Bank can use!

As part of a nationwide Christian charity, Leeds South Food Bank is committed to ensuring high standards are maintained and the training is an essential part of this commitment.

Middleton Methodist Church is the place where the food is to be collected and stored before it is distributed.
