Open evening for new Middleton school

Parents and carers considering enrolling their child at Elements Primary, the new primary school in Middleton opening in September 2018, will have an opportunity to meet the new Principal later this month.

Founding Principal Sarah Horsbrough will be hosting an open evening on Wednesday 29 November from 6pm to 8pm at  Tenants Hall Enterprise Centre, Acre Close in Middleton.

Parents will be able to learn more about the school which, as South Leeds Life reported here, will be located in a new building at Acre Mount, Middleton.

Visitors will be able to find out more about Miss Horsbrough and about the 420 pupil school which takes its first two classes of Reception age children in September.

Miss Horsbrough said:

“I’m looking forward to meeting parents and community leaders at the event which is one of a series of open days and consultation meetings we’re holding.

“Elements Primary School will be an outstanding state-of-the-art school from the outset. We’ll have the very best facilities. Children will be provided with an iPad and they will learn essential skills for tomorrow’s world.

“A brand new school provides the best opportunities for a fantastic education. This really is an opportunity to be part of something very special. And, if you apply for your child to be a part of our first reception year, they will stay in the oldest year group throughout their time at Elements.”

Elements Primary School forms part of a wider £50m school building partnership programme between Wellspring Academy Trust and Leeds City Council.

Wellspring Academy Trust, which operates 15 schools across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, has achieved notable successes that include Top 10 Most Improved Primary School in 2015 and Top 5 Most Improved Secondary School in 2017.

The leadership of the Trust boasts 10 outstanding judgements from OFSTED between them and Wellspring CEO Mark Wilson guided nearby Robin Hood Primary School to outstanding status while Headteacher there.

The new school building is still subject to a planning application and a consultation event about the plans will take place on 14 December from 5-7pm at the Tenants Hall. Further consultation events, parents evenings and a children’s day are planned and will be announced shortly.

Admissions to Elements Primary School through the Leeds City Council application process are now open to children of Reception age in September 2018 and close mid January 2018.

To apply for a place at Elements parents need to complete the form on Leeds City Council’s online admissions page.
