west york policeAt approximately 8.55pm on Saturday (16 July 2016) evening, officers were conducting enquiries in to a suspected stolen vehicle in Beeston Road in Leeds when a silver Renault Scenic made off at speed.

The Renault collided with a Nissan Micra, bollards and a lamp post on Tempest Road before the driver ran off from the scene.

A parked Toyota Corolla was also damaged as a result of the collision. No one was injured.

A number of items have been recovered from the vehicle.

Superintendent Sam Millar of Leeds District Police said; “This incident has occurred in a busy residential area during the early part of the evening when there will have been a number of people out and about and I am sure there will be those with vital information that can assist us in our enquiries. I would like to thank the community for their patience and support whilst officers and our partners continue to work at the scene.

“Our investigation is at an early stage and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about the incident or who may have been driving the vehicle to come forward.

“It is also possible that people in and around the surrounding streets may have seen the suspect running away from the area and I would also ask them to speak to police.”
