Sign Up for new Community Reporters Course

South Leeds Life is launching its second Community Reporters Course for residents in Belle Isle and Middleton.

Community Reporters posterDuring the ten week course you will learn everything you need to know to start reporting for South Leeds Life, including:

  • Writing a news story
  • Writing headlines
  • Taking better photos
  • Using video and audio
  • The role of social media (Facebook and Twitter)

The course will run every Wednesday morning from 9:30am – 12:30pm at the Tenant Hall Enterprise Centre in Middleton an starts on Wednesday 27th February.

No experience is needed, but being able to use a computer is helpful.

The course is free, but you do need to book a place as we are expecting high demand. Email southleedslife@gmail.com or ring Jeremy on 07894 583966.

  1. Hi, I would absolutely love to take part, as a conscientious member of the community, but unfortunately have other commitments on that day, is there any way I could be an active part of this on other days?

    1. Kath, it might be possible to join in from week two if it’s just the first session you can’t make. If Wednesdays are a problem we are looking to start another course in the evening for people who are out at work through the day – so keep an eye out for details.

  2. I went on the first reporters course and benefited from it. Met nice people. The tutor Jeremy is very good. Helping where needed, without being pushy. I enjoyed the course, learning quite a bit. You don’t have to commit more time than you can spare when the course is over. Give the course a try. You may be surprised.
