South Leeds Life launches its own newspaper

South Leeds Life will be launching its first free regular newspaper at Beeston Library on Friday 28 November 2014 from 4-6pm. The paper will be available at all libraries, schools and community centres in the LS11 and LS10 areas from Monday 1st December. It will then be published each month for you to pick from your venue of choice.

South Leeds Life has been available since 2010 as an online news blog, written by the community for the community. Its growing popularity has seen its readership figures increase, but it has also highlighted the need to reach more people, those who are not able to access the internet.

Me n HilsA pilot edition went out in June and was promoted at the Beeston Festival and other community galas. Lucy Potter and Kenneth Ingram two of our community reporters were there to hand out copies and chat to the public.

The newspaper will have the all of the news which is available online including, ‘My South Leeds Life’ a new post for people of all ages who wish to submit their story http://www.sllife.leeds11.com/life-south-leeds/. This could be something from the area you live in, to history and your memories of times gone by (people love to read about local history).

So come along and meet the team, from 4-6pm on Friday 28 November at Beeston Library on Town Street. There will be a free raffle and refreshments. And of course, the newspaper.
