South Leeds residents invited for afternoon tea with local NHS

People from south and east Leeds have a chance to find out more the plans of their local clinical commissioning group over a cup of tea on Thursday 6th June at John Charles Centre for Sport.

NHS CCG TeaNHS Leeds South and East Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is inviting people for an informal afternoon tea event where members of their Board and staff will be on hand to answer questions about their plans to transform local healthcare services.

By coming along to the event local people can ask questions about the CCG’s plans for the coming year and beyond, find out more about their priorities and see how they can get involved in the decision making process.

The NHS organisation is one of three new clinical commissioning groups in the city that is responsible for planning and funding health services on behalf of people living in their local communities. Clinical Commissioning Groups are groups of GPs that have, from 1 April 2013, become responsible for designing local health services in England.

Dr Andy Harris, Clinical Chief Officer for NHS Leeds South and East CCG, said:

“We are delighted to be able to welcome members of our local communities to an informal tea and cake event which will give people a chance to find out more about us and the work we do. Patient and public engagement is central to our future plans and this is the first of many opportunities for people to have their say on the work we do.”

NHS Leeds South and East CCG was recently authorised by NHS England to become a statutory public body and will now be responsible for planning and funding healthcare services for people living within its boundary. In addition to this, the CCG will work with the city’s other two CCGs to ensure people have access to citywide services such as hospital care and community-based services.

Members of the public are also invited to attend the public board meeting which takes place at 2pm immediately after the informal afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea event will take place from 1pm-2pm in the Grandstand Suite at the John Charles Centre for Sport, anyone wanting to attend can register their interest by calling 0113 843 1600 or email: leedssouthandeastccg@nhs.net.
