South Leeds Roundup: Defibrillators, back to backs and no alliterations

Here’s your regular roundup of what’s making South Leeds tick on other websites, blogs and across Facebook and Twitter.

We start this week at The South Leeds Academy where officers from Inner South Neighbourhood Policing Team were talking to motorsists today (24 May) after numerous reports of speeding cars and inconsiderate parking. Inside the gates, PC Fiona Tracey has led a fundraising drive to buy a defibrillator for the school.

Did you visit the Kite Festival at the weekend? Friends of Middleton Park would like your feedback in a short survey. Meanwhile the fun continues on Sunday (28 May) with a guided walk through Beeston Wood and children’s play activities on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Shine Project, which works with girls and young women in South Leeds, made it into the national i newspaper.

Do you love or hate back to back housing? There’s an interesting article by a self proclaimed fan on the Secret Library blog. Whilst it focuses on Harehills, much of it is relevant to Beeston, Holbeck and Hunslet.

And finally, can you help Leeds South & East Foodbank? They are in desparate need of Tinned Tomatoes, Tinned Fish, Tinned Potatoes, Pasta Sauce, Tinned Fruit, Custard, Juice, UHT milk, Coffee and Jam.
