School sports dayIt’s the time of year for school sports days and Hunslet St Mary’s and posted some great pictures of their day together with a roundup of the schools sporting achievements this year. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

There are lots of new activities starting down at The Hunslet Club. First up is Box-Tech, apparently is an activity that works on technique as well as fitness. They also have new ‘4-tots’ classes in rugby and football for children from 18 months to 4 years. Then there’s Spinning – a fitness class using exercise bikes. And if that’s not enough you can visit their Boot Camps on Saturday mornings.

It was a Shakesperian pantomime in Middleton Park as the Friends welcomed back Oddsocks Theatre on Tuesday for their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A large crowd enjoyed the entertainment between the showers. The also have news of the line up for the Middleton Music Festival on Saturday and a history walk on Sunday entitled ‘Waggonway, train and tram’.

And finally, it would have been Joshua Tetley’s 236th birthday on Sunday 20 July and to celebrate The Tetley are holding a party. There will be barrel-making demonstrations, exhibits from the brewery archives as well as all sorts of arty things and great food and drink.
