The Tetley Weekender is underway

Eleven Artists are taking over The Tetley for a weekend of performance art; the grand finale of a week long intensive residency for artists from south Asia and the UK led by BODY WORKSHOP.

All events and performances are FREE, all welcome.

This year we’re filling our building with performances by artists from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and the UK in a performance art intensive.

The Tetley Weekender is the culmination of a week long Performance Art Intensive, taking over our gallery spaces from 31 July – 4 August. The Tetley is functioning as a laboratory to incubate new works and collaborations with twelve artists, six based in South Asia and six based in the UK an open weekend of performance and talks. Over the weekend, participating artists will be invited to present existing work, and, or, present work resulting from new collaborations. There is also an accompanying series of talks and open workshops,  in discussion with participating artists and leaders exploring performance today in the UK and South Asia, unpicking influences from visual art, theatre and dance.

The Tetley Weekender performance programme is supported by Arts Council England funded project New North And South, a network of eleven arts organisations across the north of England and south Asia.
